UC Davis Student Progress Assessment Tool Earns Honorable Mention in Larry L. Sautter Award Program

The UC Information Technology Leadership Council has announced that Graduate Studies' Student Progress Assessment project was selected for honorable mention in the 2020 Larry L. Sautter Award Program.

The honorable mention is one of six awards and four honorable mentions that was presented at the Virtual UC Tech Webinar, hosted by UCLA on August 11, 2020.

The Larry L. Sautter Award for Innovation in Information Technology was established by the University of California in 2000 to encourage and recognize innovative deployment of information technology in support of the university’s mission. The award honors projects developed by faculty and staff in any department at the ten UC campuses, six health systems, the UC Office of the President (UCOP), Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hastings College of the Law, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Launched in the 2017-2018 academic year, the Student Progress Assessment (SPA) is a web-based mentoring and advising tool that graduate students complete with their faculty advisors to assess progress and align expectations. The questionnaire content was developed through a collaborative process that included the Graduate Student Association, Graduate Studies, and Academic Senate. SPA integrates with a suite of other applications that combine student information, role-based access, and messaging for a rich and seamless experience. Adoption of the assessment has been rapid, with reported completion rates of 90%+ across 75+ programs in its first two years.
