UC Davis MFA Faith Sponsler Wins Keister & Allen Art Purchase Prize

Faith Sponsler, a graduating studio art MFA student, is the first recipient of the Keister & Allen Art Purchase Prize. The award is a purchase of a student’s artwork for the collection of the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art.

The award was announced at the opening of the “from this point forward” graduate student exhibition June 1.

Sponsler grew up in Mount Shasta and earned her undergraduate degree from Sacramento State.

For the exhibition, she created a large installation titled “Glass Mountain” that includes natural found materials and ink she made from oak galls.
