New Programs

Quick Summary

  • UC Davis launches new graduate degree programs for fall 2017.

The University of California has granted formal approval to the University of California, Davis, to begin offering graduate degrees in three new areas of study.

The new programs, which span several departments across campus, aim to train graduate students at UC Davis in the emerging areas of big data, environmental policy, and the energy sciences.

The new master’s and doctoral degree programs include:

Master of Science (M.S.) in Business Analytics
Offered by the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, the M.S. in Business Analytics program is designed to prepare students to thrive as innovative, data-driven leaders in a wide variety of industries. Students will have the opportunity to work on a specialized project, joining a team to tackle a real-world business analytics project for a corporate client. Master of Science (M.S.) in Environmental Policy and Management

A focus of this program will be interdisciplinary training on the roles of science that is directly relevant to real-world environmental policy and management issues.

Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Energy Systems
The M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Energy Systems provides a unique foundation in the energy sciences, engineering, policy, and management, enabling graduates to fill positions within the federal government, state government, utility companies, renewable energy developers, oil and gas companies, the automotive industry, the non-profit sector, and research universities as academics.

The program proposals underwent thorough reviews by campus and system-level leaders and committees before gaining full approval from the University of California Coordinating Committee on Graduate Affairs (CCGA).

The graduate programs, slated to begin offering classes in fall 2017, are currently accepting and reviewing applications for admission.
