  • What’s your story?
  • I grew up in San Francisco, attended UC Davis (B.A.), and then the University of Oregon (J.D.). I am currently one of two members of the Graduate Studies External Fellowships team.
  • What was the highlight of your day/week?
  • A quiet morning walk on the coast. The birdwatching was excellent, the breeze was pleasant, and the skies were clear.
  • What is one of your most defining moments in life?
  • My first cup of coffee. It was the start of a lifelong love affair.
  • What book has influenced you the most?
  • One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez.
  • What was your dream job growing up?
  • I wanted to be a librarian when I was younger. I loved story time at the local library. I always had a book with me. Still do!
  • If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?
  • I have always been curious and one question isn’t enough!
  • Why did you choose your profession?
  • I did not plot a career in higher education and my path here was winding. However, I am very fortunate that the right opportunity came along at the right time. I took a leap and made a career change. It was terrifying and thrilling but I enjoy my work.
  • What do you want people to know about your work?
  • Our graduate students and postdoctoral scholars are working on amazing projects. It is very satisfying to know that I have the knowledge and skills to help support brilliant early investigators at UC Davis. Applying for external funding can seem daunting but I am here to help.
  • When should people contact you?
  • Anytime! I love to talk with applicants, graduate program staff, faculty, account managers, anyone about all aspects of external funding – searches, budgets, the matching commitment program, postdoc title codes and fringe benefit rates…I could go on.
  • What is one hope you have for the future?
  • The world could do with a little more kindness.
