International Graduate Students: Get ready for an early welcome!

International Graduate Student Orientation is September 17 - 19, 2014

Graduate Studies is preparing for an early orientation for incoming international graduate students and their families. Three days (September 17 - 19) are set aside to focus on the transitional needs of international students and their family members before the campus-wide Week of Welcome for all incoming students (September 22 - 26).

The International Graduate Student Orientation (IGSO) will address issues and concerns specific to international students, such as:

  • understanding the educational and cultural environment at UC Davis,
  • learning about services and resources of particular interest to international students and families, and
  • connecting students and families to each other and the campus.

IGSO will give international students a head-start on acclimating to campus life and culture. It will include multiple workshops and events to get students involved in campus life and community. In addition, students will have a chance to explore and get to know the city of Davis and surrounding areas. We want our new international community members to begin developing support systems and a sense of community before the rigor of the academic year begins.

International students and their families are highly encouraged to attend as the academic quarter is fast-paced, making it difficult for students to explore and acclimate as much as they would like.

The schedule and registration information for IGSO is posted on the Graduate Student Orientation website. For more information, contact Amandeep Kaur, Graduate Student Assistant to Dean and Chancellor, at ackaur@ucdavis.edu.
