Holistic U 2024

Holistic U 2024 is an in-person orientation that supports graduate students that includes first generation students, historically underrepresented students (African American/Black, Latinx, and Native American), students from marginalized communities in the U.S. and students who have had limited access to higher education.

Holistic U focuses on a holistic approach to,

  • Your graduate experience (You) and first year graduate student success,
  • Your community (Unity),  peers within one's graduate program and across campus, and the
  • University environment.

By participating in Holistic U you will learn about successfully navigating the University environment. You will learn how balancing mental and physical health is central to one’s success in academia.  Finally you will start building a personal, cultural community from day one.

The agenda for Holistic U includes,

  • Graduate Studies Dean welcome
  • Learning about University culture
  • Embracing work life balance
  • Dialoguing with peers about a successful first year
  • Connecting with graduate program/group coordinators as an ally
  • And more!

We particularly welcome applicants who have the potential to contribute to graduate level education through their understanding of the barriers facing underrepresented minorities (African American/Black, Latinx, and Native American) in U.S. graduate level education, as evidenced by the one’s life experiences. All grad students are welcome.
