Letter of Recommendation Form - Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award 2019-20

This form is only to be completed by an applicable faculty member. The individual graduate student requesting this recommendation is applying for the 2019-20 Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award. It would be helpful in our selection process if you would provide us with your assessment of this applicant using this form.

Deadline for Letter of Recommendation Form = Wednesday, April 8, 2020

This letter is considered confidential and completed by the individual who supervised the course for which the candidate was nominated. If the student is the instructor of record, the Supporting Letter of Recommendation should be from the department chair, graduate program chair, or a designated faculty member.

The designated faculty member will be sent a link via email for access to this form. Emails will be sent after January 1, 2020.

Only courses from quarters during calendar year 2019 are eligible for the 2019-20 OGTA. For example, "Winter Quarter 201901" was January, February, and March of 2019. "Fall Quarter 2019-20" was October, November, and December of 2019.

Please provide the following information in the letter: 1. Describe your impressions of the candidate’s teaching in the course. 2. What outstanding qualities set this graduate student teacher apart from others? 3. What evidence demonstrates the candidate's creativity and effort in improving classes and teaching effectiveness? 4. Comment on the candidate's rapport with students, availability, willingness to hold special help sessions, efforts to stimulate independent thinking, and any other contributions to teaching that deserve special recognition and may be helpful to the selection committee.
The Letter of Recommendation must not exceed two pages. Please provide the following information in the letter: 1. Describe your impressions of the candidate’s teaching in the course. 2. What outstanding qualities set this graduate student teacher apart from others? 3. What evidence demonstrates the candidate's creativity and effort in improving classes and teaching effectiveness? 4. Comment on the candidate's rapport with students, availability, willingness to hold special help sessions, efforts to stimulate independent thinking, and any other contributions to teaching that deserve special recognition and may be helpful to the selection committee.
