Nominee's Form and Teaching Philosophy Statement - Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award 2019-20

You may use this form to self-nominate if you do not have an Initial Nomination Letter from a third party (undergraduate student, faculty member, other graduate student, etc.). Typically, the Initial Nomination Form is submitted by a third party, however, if requested you may submit it on their behalf using the Initial Nomination Form (https://gradstudies.ucdavis.edu/about-us/news-events/awards/outstanding-graduate-student-teaching-award/ogta-initial-nomination-form).
Only courses from quarters during calendar year 2019 are eligible for the 2019-20 OGTA. For example, "Winter Quarter 2019-19" was January, February, and March of 2019. "Fall Quarter 2019-20" was October, November, and December of 2019.

Prepare an essay describing your teaching philosophy. The essay should be a statement of the philosophy, goals, and methods that guide your teaching. Please describe efforts you have made beyond your normal teaching responsibilities. From your own experiences as a student, please describe the attributes that you think the very best teachers should possess.
Format for upload: If you are uploading your statement, the essay should be no more than two pages in length, double-spaced, one-inch margins, and 12-point font. Prepare an essay describing your teaching philosophy. The essay should be a statement of the philosophy, goals, and methods that guide your teaching. From your own experiences as a student, please describe the attributes that you think the very best teachers should possess.
