The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has awarded 2021-22 fellowships to four scholars at the University of California, Davis. Recipients will pursue academic work and lead innovative community projects to empower women and girls.
 
•    Sarah Biscarra Dilley, an American Fellowship, is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Native American and Indigenous Studies, Critical Gender Studies, Visual Arts, Geography, and History.  

UC Davis biological systems engineers Chang Chen and Ke Wang placed first and third, respectively, in the 2021 graduate student paper competition hosted by the Association of Overseas Chinese Agricultural, Biological and Food Engineers (AOCABFE, also known as AOC).

It is a truth that UC Davis Professor Emeritus Ellen Gold, Ph.D. has dedicated her career to investigating as a nationally renowned epidemiologist. It also is what inspired her to create a fellowship for generations of UC Davis epidemiology graduate students and to make other gifts to ensure graduate students’ basic needs are met.

Last month, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center announced the recipients of the 2021 Harold M. Weintraub Graduate Student Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in graduate studies in the biological sciences. Lindsay Cameron, a UC Davis neuroscience Ph.D. candidate and recent Grad Slam finalist, was among this year's award recipients.

Rebecca Jean “RJ” Millena just received an amazing four-year full-ride fellowship offer to a Ph.D. program at the American Museum of Natural History — really an amazing offer — to join the systematics laboratory of Dr. Jessica Ware,” Professor Rosenheim said.  

Amber M. Davis, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral scholar at the UC Davis MIND Institute/Psychiatry department. She is a graduate of Howard University’s Ph.D. Social Work program and started her postdoctoral position at UC Davis in 2019. 

Charlie Casey Nicholson, a UC Davis postdoctoral researcher, won the contest to find the first bumblebee of the year. 

The Coastal and Marine Science Institute is pleased to announce the ten recipients of the UC Davis Bilinski fellowship at Bodega Marine Laboratory for 2020-2021. Russell J. and Dorothy S. Bilinski’s life goal was to be “independent and challenged intellectually.” They strongly valued self-sufficiency, a sense of ambition, and above all, responsibility. Their legacy continues in their nonprofit corporate foundation that provides fellowship funds for post-secondary education for students who have demonstrated and will maintain both the highest academic achievement and good moral character. 

Gillian Moise, a UC Davis Ph.D. candidate in Sociology, has assumed the role of Graduate Student Advisor to the Dean of Graduate Studies and to the Chancellor (GSADC) for the 2020-2021 academic year.
