UC Davis Graduate Studies has selected three UC Davis professors and their students as the recipients of this year's Wakeham Mentoring Fellowships, an honor given to faculty and their mentees to support the exploration of mentoring best practices. 

The UC Davis online graduate application for the 2018-2019 academic year is now open. A leader across a wide variety of academic disciplines, UC Davis offers professional schools in business management, education, law, medicine and nursing, and is the only UC with a school of veterinary medicine. UC Davis is ranked second in the world for teaching and research in agriculture and forestry and first for veterinary sciences by QS World University Rankings.

Professor Ellen Hartigan-O’Connor has been named our new Acting Associate Dean for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars and Professor Duncan Temple Lang will serve as Interim Associate Dean for Graduate Programs.

The creative writing program, part of the College of Letters and Science’s English department, will offer a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing starting in the 2019–2020 academic year.

Five marketing, communication and development projects from UC Davis have earned international honors from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, or CASE.

The five Circle of Excellence awards — the most earned by any University of California institution — follow 38 awards UC Davis earned in regional CASE competition earlier this year.

The projects awarded Circle of Excellence awards were produced by staff from the offices of Strategic Communications, Graduate Studies, and Development and Alumni Relations.

UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May has selected Prasant Mohapatra to serve as vice chancellor for research. Mohapatra, who has been the dean of graduate studies and vice provost of graduate education since 2016, will oversee an annual research funding portfolio of about $783 million (as of fiscal year 2016), and lead the university’s corporate research relations and translation of UC Davis research into knowledge and technology of significant public benefit.   

With a total of $17,500 in prize money, UC Davis postdoctoral scholar Denise Bronner had the highest winnings of the night for Anu Snacks of Sacramento, which makes all-natural snacks from the spent grain of microbreweries. 

On May 23, UC Davis Graduate Studies continued the tradition of recognizing  some of the most exemplary teaching, research and mentoring taking place within the UC Davis graduate education community at the 2018 Graduate Studies Honors and Awards Ceremony in the ARC Ballroom.

Honorees and their family, friends, and colleagues gathered to celebrate some of  this year's most notable academic accomplishments from faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars alike. 

Author and business futurist Robert B. Tucker, ’78, will return to UC Davis as the keynote speaker for the 2018 Graduate Studies Commencement at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) Pavilion.

14 graduate students and postdoctoral scholars from the University of California, Davis, have been named the 2018-2019 fellows in the Professors for the Future (PFTF) program.

Established in 1992, Professors for the Future is a year-long competitive fellowship program designed to develop the leadership skills of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars who have demonstrated their commitment to professionalism, integrity, and academic service.
