Location and Surrounding Region
Most UC Davis graduate students are based in and around the Northern California city of Davis, where the main academic campus is located, and in Sacramento, the state capital, where UC Davis Health is headquartered.
The Davis campus is located along Interstate 80 next to the city of Davis, a vibrant college town of about 68,000 located in Yolo County. You are invited to visit our beautiful campus, or take a virtual tour from the convenience of your own home.
Aside from a world-famous campus, Davis is known for its attention to the quality of college town life. The weather is usually mild, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The city streets are lined with big shade trees and there are more than 95 miles of bike paths! There are community pools, tennis courts, playing fields, parks and jogging paths throughout the city.
As the region's only academic health center, UC Davis Health is located off U.S. 50 near the I-80 interchange in California’s capital city of Sacramento. The health system encompasses the UC Davis Medical Center, UC Davis School of Medicine, Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing and UC Davis Medical Group.
We also have additional university facilities and properties throughout California and one in Nevada, including the Bodega Marine Laboratory, the Tahoe Environmental Research Center, and the UC Davis Part-Time MBA Program Sacramento Campus.
Close to Many of the World's Best Destinations
Davis is 20 minutes away from the state's capital, Sacramento, and and world-class destinations such as the San Francisco Bay Area, Lake Tahoe and the Napa Valley are within a two-hour drive. There many recreational resources in and around the outlying areas such as golfing, boating, fishing, swimming, skiing, hiking, tennis and horseback riding – to name just a few.
