Filing & Comprehensive Exam Deadlines

All filing will be conducted remotely. You don't need an appointment. Email a Senior Academic Advisor to submit forms and ask questions about the process.

Filing students may email all paperwork to their SAA except the signed title page.  Electronic signatures are accepted.  Please submit paperwork in one email.  Title pages may be signed by committee members electronically, but must be submitted by the committee chair or graduate program coordinator with all committee members CC’d.  As is standard procedure, theses and dissertations will be uploaded via ProQuest ETD and reviewed by an SAA.  SAA's are notified automatically when papers are uploaded and corrections are submitted.

All published filing dates still apply.

Thesis/Dissertation Filing Deadlines

Students completing a thesis or dissertation have two options for filing dates.  The first date allows students to be on the current quarter degree list.  The second date allows students to not continue registering for the following quarter, but places the student on the following quarter degree list.

For example, a student who files by the third week of November in Fall quarter will be on the Fall (December) degree list.  If a student needs more time, they may file in the third week of December so as to not register for Winter quarter, but that student would be placed on the Winter (March) degree list.

You must upload your thesis or dissertation to ProQuest ETD 48 hours before your scheduled appointment or the filing deadline if submitting remotely.  For more information on formatting and filing the thesis/dissertation and required paperwork, please review the Preparing and Filing Your Thesis or Dissertation page.

Students on Filing Fee must file by the last day of the filing fee quarter or submit a readmission application or a filing fee extension request.  Filing fee extensions are only granted in exceptional circumstances.  Use the chart below to determine on which degree list you will be listed based on the day you file or complete your degree.
