This Spring 2026, we are launching the Project Management Academy for Ph.D. Graduate Students — a workshop series that will introduce Ph.D. students to essential project management tools and methodologies tailored to enhance their academic research projects and prepare them for careers beyond the university.

This student-led initiative is a collaboration between UC Davis Graduate Studies and the Association of Women in Science (AWIS), bringing together academic leadership and industry-informed expertise to support graduate student success.
The workshop series spans three foundational modules:
  1. Goal Setting, where participants learn to translate their research vision into actionable objectives, milestones, and deliverables, culminating in a “Critical Path” that defines the core steps to success.
  2. Timeline & Task Management, where project management software is introduced to turn goals into a structured, implementable action plan.
  3. Risk Management, which focuses on managing uncertainty through identifying blind spots and devising contingency plans.
If you are interested in strengthening your time management, improving research execution, and exploring careers inside or beyond academia, we encourage you to apply via this short google form.

This cohort will be limited to 25 participants.

The deadline for applications is March 18th, 2026.
