Holistic U 2023

Holistic U is an in-person orientation for first year graduate students that is intended to address the barriers that have prevented full participation of educationally disadvantaged students at the U.S. graduate level, including underrepresented minority students (African American/Black, Latinx, and Native American).

Holistic U focuses on a holistic approach to,

  • Your graduate experience (You),
  • Your community (Unity), and the
  • University environment.

By participating in Holistic U you will learn how mental and physical health is central to one’s success in academia.  You will start building a cultural community from day one. Finally, you will learn about successfully navigating the University environment for first year graduate student success.

We particularly welcome applicants who have the potential to contribute to graduate level education through their understanding of the barriers facing underrepresented minorities (African American/Black, Latinx, and Native American) in U.S. graduate level education, as evidenced by the applicant’s life experiences.

If you are interested in participating in the 2023 Graduate Diversity Orientation: Holistic U on Thursday, September 14, 2023 (9:00-4:00 in 1220 Walker Hall), please apply here, https://forms.gle/Rx33i56gMgcSv1XH6.
