How often have you listened to scientific presentations where the speaker overwhelmed you with information or gave a really boring talk? A recent book by Chip and Dan Heath provides research that shows how experts are cursed with not realizing how little of their ideas are effectively communicated. To help you avoid similar mistakes, key principles of effective communication will be provided so that you can deliver presentations that “stick”. The Heath brothers refer to communicating ideas that “stick” so that people will understand and act upon your message. Concrete examples and common mistakes will be provided to help you deliver presentations to effectively inform and inspire your audience. Feel free to bring a draft presentation or poster for consultation after the workshop.
