Event Category:

How is writing a dissertation in the social sciences different from writing a dissertation in humanities or STEM?  Please join Vai Ramanathan and Shelley Dykstra for a Q and A about doctoral dissertation writing in the social sciences. This student-led virtual discussion will address concerns generated by social science graduate students in a questionnaire sent out a week before the event. Some possible topics that maybe covered are research questions, methodology, writing the prospectus, chapter organization, best resources, or policies and procedures.

Vai Ramanathan is a Professor in Linguistics specializing in qualitative sociolinguistics and affiliated faculty with Writing, Rhetoric, and Composition Studies, and Shelley Dykstra is a Ph.D. student in Spanish Linguistics and a Writing Consultant Fellow.
