Grad Studies Announces 2018 UC Davis Grad Slam Finalists

Graduate Studies Among UC Davis CASE VII Winners

UC Davis earned 16 gold, 13 silver and nine bronze Awards of Excellence from District VII of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, or CASE — for a total of 38, nine more than a year ago, and giving UC Davis the distinction of receiving the most awards two years in a row in the district that takes in universities in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Hawaii, as well as Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Mike Gil is used to spreading the word about his love of science through his nonprofit sciall.org and its YouTube channel, but he’s about to get a bigger audience. His TED Talk, recorded last summer, was posted today on TED’s main channel. Only a fraction of talks given at TED conferences are posted to the main website, which has millions of subscribers.

HBCU Partnership Brings New Students to UC Davis Grad Programs

As universities around the country strive to diversify their graduate and faculty ranks, one University of California effort is proving highly successful.

A UC initiative that strengthens research ties and collaborations with the nation’s historically black colleges and universities has helped more than 400 students to participate in a UC summer internship. The result: More than 10 percent of participants have gone on to a UC Ph.D. program.
