UC Davis Program for Former Foster Youth Earns International Honors from CASE

Five marketing, communication and development projects from UC Davis have earned international honors from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, or CASE.

The five Circle of Excellence awards — the most earned by any University of California institution — follow 38 awards UC Davis earned in regional CASE competition earlier this year.

The projects awarded Circle of Excellence awards were produced by staff from the offices of Strategic Communications, Graduate Studies, and Development and Alumni Relations.

Prasant Mohapatra Selected as Vice Chancellor for Research

UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May has selected Prasant Mohapatra to serve as vice chancellor for research. Mohapatra, who has been the dean of graduate studies and vice provost of graduate education since 2016, will oversee an annual research funding portfolio of about $783 million (as of fiscal year 2016), and lead the university’s corporate research relations and translation of UC Davis research into knowledge and technology of significant public benefit.   

Faculty, Graduate Students, and Postdocs Honored by Graduate Studies

On May 23, UC Davis Graduate Studies continued the tradition of recognizing  some of the most exemplary teaching, research and mentoring taking place within the UC Davis graduate education community at the 2018 Graduate Studies Honors and Awards Ceremony in the ARC Ballroom.

Honorees and their family, friends, and colleagues gathered to celebrate some of  this year's most notable academic accomplishments from faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars alike. 

Leaders for the Future: Grad Student Sarah Messbauer Explores Accessibility and Transparency in Grant Applications

Sarah Messbauer is a doctoral candidate in ethnomusicology, studying the impacts of public arts policy on refugee communities in Canada. Messbauer recently completed her tenure as the 2016-2017 graduate student assistant to the dean and chancellor, where she engaged in programming and advocacy efforts aimed at improving the student experience for more than 8,000 graduate and professional students at UC Davis.

Remembering Professor and Mentor Susan Williams

Faculty and staff will be gathering at UC Davis’ Bodega Marine Laboratory this afternoon not for their weekly seminar but to remember their colleague Susan Williams who died in a car crash Tuesday (April 24) while en route to the Davis campus to teach.

Graduate Studies Announces New Professors for the Future Fellows

14 graduate students and postdoctoral scholars from the University of California, Davis, have been named the 2018-2019 fellows in the Professors for the Future (PFTF) program.

Established in 1992, Professors for the Future is a year-long competitive fellowship program designed to develop the leadership skills of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars who have demonstrated their commitment to professionalism, integrity, and academic service.
