Graduate Studies Commencement: Disability Resources and Special Accommodations

If you are a graduating student and require special accommodations, please notify us as soon as possible by stating your need in the request under the "Special Needs" section of your commencement registration.  Two months notice is needed for a sign language interpreter or if you need assistance crossing the stage. We are able to offer special accommodations to students only.

Shuttle Service on golf carts is provided for guests with mobility limitations to transport them to and from the parking lot and West Entry parking structure. There will be a tent outside the Pavilion where elderly and disabled guests may sit while waiting for the Pavilion to open at 3 p.m.

The northeast entrance is reserved for the elderly and those with disabilities to enter the Pavilion. Disabled seating sections are available for guests with limited mobility or who use a wheelchair (who may be accompanied by one other member of their party). There are reserved limited mobility sections in rows E and F in sections 226, 220, 213, or 207 of the Pavilion. All seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note that the university does not provide wheelchairs. Families interested in renting wheelchairs are encouraged to contact a local provider.

For those guests with limited/no hearing attending commencements in the Pavilion, assisted listening devices may be picked up in the Pavilion Guest Services Center (located in the northeast lobby corner of the Pavilion) and/or sign language interpretation can be arranged. Please e-mail Commencement Central ahead of time to arrange for sign language interpretation.

A portion of Lot 25 is reserved and free of charge for vehicles displaying DMV issued Disabled Person Parking Placards and Plates.

Guests with mobility challenges may use the shuttle service, when in service, to travel to and from parking lots.
